One of the SADC’s regions leading banks has listed a new ten-year bond of R1.4-billion on the Sustainability segment of the JSE – the proceeds will be used to finance renewable energy projects in South Africa, to help accelerate the much-needed energy transition.

With the rapidly developing power sector, Eskom has discussed the initiation of an auction process to release land in the coal-rich Mpumalanga province, based on 20-year lease agreements for renewable electricity generation by independent power producers. Projects below 100MW can now be built and traded without a generation license. These current developments are landmark decisions that are set to not only create jobs but improve the lives of all South Africans.
